Abstract

Sleep quality plays a crucial role in maintaining the physical and mental health and cognitive abilities of high school students. Lack of sleep or poor-quality sleep can reduce concentration and energy levels, and impact academic performance. This study aimed to examine the sleep quality of high school students, its impact on learning productivity, and the extent to which students are aware of the relationship between sleep and their academic performance. The method used was a quantitative survey using a Google Forms-based questionnaire containing 10 questions related to sleep duration, sleep quality, ease of falling asleep, feeling refreshed upon waking, concentration, feeling sleepy at school, energy levels, and perceptions of the impact of sleep on academic performance. The questionnaire results showed that the majority of respondents felt they did not get enough sleep at night, although they considered their sleep quality to be quite deep and fell asleep easily. However, most felt less refreshed upon waking in the morning, had difficulty concentrating optimally in class, and had low energy levels while studying. Nevertheless, the majority of students recognized and agreed that sleep quality significantly impacted their academic performance and performance, and were generally quite satisfied with their learning performance. This study concluded that there is a gap between sleep habits (subjective duration and quality) and the ideal sleep requirements to support high school students' academic productivity and achievement. Education about the importance of adequate sleep and managing study-rest time needs to be improved, and supported by the development of applications that can help students monitor and improve their sleep quality.
